Televisits necessary due to the current COVID 19 surge!

Due to the current SURGE of COVID-19 cases, Cox Family Practice and Cone Hospital are encouraging visits to be conducted virtually if possible. We hope this will be at most for the first 2 months of 2021.

Although we love to see our patients in the office for a face-to-face visit, during this pandemic, this is not always feasible or appropriate.

Our preference is for an e-visit (video), but we are able to offer telephone visits.

These visits are one-on-one interactions with a PROVIDER (physician or physician assistants) and, in some situations, a trained nurse is able to perform medicare annual wellness visits via televisits. If labwork is needed following the televisit, an appointment for labs will be made in our office.

We have set up some guidelines for our staff for televisits. If a patients needs require a face-to-face office visit, he or she will be further assessed by our nurses and made an in house appointment. If after conducting a televisit, a provider feels the you still require an in house visit, we will schedule you to come in.

Ideally, we would like to have some vital signs (temperature, blood pressure, and pulse) taken by you, the patient.

Medical Visits which MAY be able to be conducted via telemedicine include:

  • Upper respiratory infections (colds, sore throats, sinus infections, ear infections)
  • Influenza
  • Coronavirus infection / concerns
  • Bladder Infections
  • Gastroenteritis
  • Sprains
  • Muscle Strains
  • Psychiatric issues
  • Follow up visits for hypertension or diabetes in between the routine visits which require lab work
    Annual Wellness Visits for Medicare (exclusion is the welcome to medicare wellness visit.)

There will be a charge for the telemedicine visit, which we will file with insurance. Patients will be responsible for any copays, deductibles, or denials by insurance.

Please be sure we have your current insurance card so we are able to file correctly.
